  • Behind the Scenes of a Transitional Photoshoot

    August 10, 2015

The fashion industry always remains an enigma for those on the outside wanting to look in. Here at Glamorous HQ we love to provide our followers with a sneaky peak of a new trend or upcoming shoot. Our latest shoot, for the incredibly versatile transitional trend, paved way for more gorgeous assets to our model gallery and just for you, we've provided a behind the scenes peak about the goings-on of an online fashion photoshoot.

The idea behind this particular shoot is a cross over between summer to autumn, showcasing ways to style the transition. Naturally this involved a mixture of light and dark shades, balanced out to suit varying weather scenarios. The idea was focused around a natural, casual setting to embody the typical Glamorous shopper. The team chose Harriett from J'adore Models to represent the brand for transitional as she had a changeable look to embody the overlapping seasonal trends.

From start to finish, coming up with a shoot involves the whole team. Starting off with  a merchandising round up of what stock is due, what is looking to be popular, the seeds of ideas begin. This is then passed to our content manager to develop a plan and feed this into our calendar for scheduling. Once confirmed, photography get involved with a unanimous decision on model and location to suit the theme. After a few more ideas are thrown into the mix for good measure, the shoot gets under way and the team excitedly await the finished product.

For this particular shoot, the team opted for natural make-up to get a typical girl-next-door aesthetic for the shoot. Filled in brows are used to create a prominent brow and minimal eye make-up is used to let Harriett's bright blue eyes stand out and bring out blue hues from the eccentric prints. A soft shade of rose blusher makes for an interesting blend across Harriett's cheeks whilst her lips are left nude to not overwhelm with colour.

One of Manchester's understated picturesque landscapes, Nexus Cafe functions as a cultural little art hub with a decent kitchen to boot. What made this a frontrunning location was the versatility of furniture with a good source of natural light for the theme of the shoot. All space was used to ensure we had plenty of options when it came to utilising assetts. What worked about the cafe was the change in time from corner to corner, one

Usually a stylist would be involved in a big shoot but as this was a casual look the team pitched in and decided to keep things simple. The purpose of this shoot is to promote the clothes so minimal accessorising was used to allow them to become focal point. With such a busy location, this worked well as not to have too much going on in the images.

The pictures gained showed off a playful element to the transitional trend. A mix of prints merged well with the contrasting backgrounds which were available at the Nexus Cafe. By keeping things simple the team pulled together a string of gorgeous images for online and had fun in the process of doing so.

  • Glamorous Blogger Update

    August 7, 2015

With the Festival season drawing to a close in the next few weeks and the summer months moving along quite steadily its time to start thinking about the next season. Last Autumn feels like no time ago but don't fret, give the new season a positive spin with all the new prints and styles to come this AW.

The transition from SS to AW takes the change on gradually with similar colour palettes and prints. The new season welcomes new shapes and styles subtly into the mix, emerging a whole new batch of trends for us to fall in love with over the winter months.

Inspiration is key when deciding on how your personal style will approach the new season and what better way to tackle the trends than looking towards our favourite fashionistas.. the Glamorous bloggers.

    Denim Dreams

Our favourite Made and Chelsea girl, Rosie Fortescue and her blog A Fashion Forte shows us how to add a personal touch to the classic denim shift dress. A simple pop of colour from a pair of statement boots is all this dress needs to take it from casual day chic to a stylish look that is ready for the night ahead.

    White Revisited

Catherine from her blog Fashion Ardenter takes a new spin on the classic white trend. Instead of creating statement white pieces to brighten a dark outfit she has embrace the bright whites by wearing them altogether. A simple white low V tee and our best selling white distressed boyfriend jeans adds a touch of French sophistication to the classic day to day look.

     Edge It Out

Want to embrace your inner edge this season? Take some style tips from blogger Kendall JacobHer rocky approach to our palm printed blazer makes us want to unleash our inner rockstar and add some creative personality to our styling. A statement jacket is the perfect way to complete a favourite 'all black' outfit adding just the right amount of pattern without overwhelming the look.

    Go The Full Length

The change in seasons is the perfect excuse to start experimenting with styles you may not usually pick. Push the boundaries this AW and play around with lengths and layers. If midi dresses are usually your style why not take the plunge and go full on maxi.

Hannah and her blog A Fashion Fix demonstrates perfectly how a lace up maxi dress can become one of your all time favourite looks. This floaty number looks great with flat sandals when the weather is on our side or team with a heeled boot and leather jacket for an edgy spin on a traditional look.

  • Styling the Transitional Trend

    July 21, 2015

It may be with a heavy heart you finally accept the end of summer is nearing, even though it feels as though it only just arrived. There is no time to dwell, however, as autumn approaches and with a whole host of new materials and shapes to warrant good excuse for a serious shopping trip.

Styling the transition can be confusing, especially if you live somewhere where the weather changes more frequently than the traffic lights (we're looking at you UK). This is why we've put together a little guide/inspiration post to give you ideas on how to work trans-seasonal trends your own way. Let go of summer and embrace the new season of texture, layering and a staple jacket or two. For more ideas don't forget to give our transitional category a browse.

    Throwback everyday

Throwbacks aren't just reserved for instagram and Thursdays, embed throwback fashion into your daily look with retro pattern dresses and timeless jackets. Seventies retro is big at the moment for flares, silhouettes and plenty of suede. Raid your photo albums for old photos of family members for inspiration (and hair cringes). Who knew your gran was such a style icon?

    Swing or Shift

A day dress is the ultimate item when it comes to versatility. Throw over a leather jacket and boots for a nod to grunge or add wedges and little bag for girly garden party chic. The basics are there to dress yourself up or down according to occasion. Make your statement with a print which reflects your personality. Go paisley or patchwork, the choice really is yours. Swing or shift dress, you can accommodate your shape with a flattering fit. Layering is key, add jumper/boots/jacket accordingly.

    denim dreams

The original wardrobe veteran, we all love a bit of denim. It makes it's rounds again for the new season in the form of dungarees, jackets and jeans (of course). Take note from queen of denim Alexa Chung and work anything denim you can get your hands on with classic brogues and a satchel bag. Clash textures and work in other fabrics to tie together an all encompassed stylish look.

    Layer over

Don't be afraid to dabble in layering. If you normally shy away from flesh baring crops, try throwing one over a dress with boots and a fringed jacket for good measure.Think maxi skirts with jumpers to satisfy the comfort versus style debacle. A cut-out or fringed cape is your best friend when it comes to nailing this trend, versatile to don when making a statement as well as keeping you warm during those cold autumn work days.

  • Glamorous Instagram: EDIT

    July 17, 2015

Pinterest may be the traditional fashion app but Instagram is the new favourite for fashion inspiration. We took a look at our favourite styles to create the Glamorous Instagram: EDIT.

    Buton up2

The simple button down style has made a comeback this season, the classic look is a transitional must have to take your wardrobe from Summer to Autumn. The trend is an all-round favourite, whether your a fan or suede, denim or cord. This trending-now skirt is also available in a midi version.

Inject a little bohemian into your transitional styling with a little lace up. The criss-cross detailing is trendy way to update your dress collection. A tassel tie compliments the current fringe trend.

If you thought fringing would be a passing trend you would be wrong. The tassels are set to continue into the autumn/winter months. Suede is a seasonal favourite or update your favourite leather jacket with a little edge.
