  • Fashion Week SS16: Round Up

    October 21, 2015

The hottest month in the Fashion Calendar has come to a close again, yes we are talking about Fashion Week: SS16. This limbo times plays havoc with our style emotions. With all the top designers showcasing a variety of must have looks we want to fast forward to the Summer and start wearing them now.

So what is set to be hot next season? We have a look at what we will be wearing come Summer and what were the talking points of the Fashion month just past.

    Key Colours

One of the biggest and most obvious things we take away from Fashion week is what colours will be dominating the SS16 collection. After the overload of Rust shades this AW15 it is nice to start thinking of a new shade to fill our wardrobes with. The new 'must have' shade will be Primrose Yellow. As demonstrated perfectly by Christopher Kane and Jonathan Saunders, their SS16 collections showcase the delicate colour palette and how it will compliment the new Summer prints. Other key colours include the return of blue spanning from aquas to grey tones and pretty pinks to compliment the new floral trend.

    Top Tailoring

The boy meet girl trend comes around every year but SS16 is stepping up the styling by adding some volume to the current popular trend. Gentleman tailoring meets billowing silhouettes create a feminine touch to a quite structured style. Pulled in waistlines and voluptuous pleats are what to look out for next season when adding a little masculine edge to your Summer wardrobe.

    Burberry Go Social

One of the main stories to come away from the fashion weeks was Burberry's social sneak preview. The brand took to Snapchat 24hrs before their first show and previewed the new collection to their social fans. A clever way to entice their customers ahead of the main event. With the inclusion of a social media it will interesting to see how brands try and top it next year.

    Marc Jacobs Film

Instead of keeping it traditional, Marc Jacobs took his fans to the movies with a tale fashion. Jacobs treated a selected few to a night at the theatre with a live jazz orchestra to keep the show going. Models started from the red carpet, through the lobby and into the theatre so all spectators could view the collection. Americana styling played a big part with an array of rinestones, embroidered denim, patch detailing and flannel shirts transporting the audience to the US.

    The Return Of Florals

There is no surprise that florals are making a comeback this SS16. The botanical favourite is taking on a new style by teaming up with romantic ruffles. The new blossoms are delivered in both a delicate variation or a round up of wild blooms to create an on point Summer style.

    Texture Overlap

Textures are continuing to play a big part next season, overlapping from AW15. The feminine touches of the traditional SS collection has been updated with a touch of Romanticism. Otherwise known as 'Frill Fest', the designers pulled out all the stops to create a truly beautiful array of ruffles, flounces and open pleats to work as a contrast against the boy meets girl trend of SS16.

  • Texture Trend

    October 9, 2015

    Texture Trend

It is inevitable that when the seasons change an array of textures make their way back into the trends. This Autumn/Winter is no exception and brings back the classics for us all to remember and fall in love with all over again. Bringing PU, Fur and cord back into our wardrobes and not forgetting the returning favourite suede, an overlap from SS15 in a variety of Autumn worthy colours.

Suede has had a big part of the spotlight this year bringing with it a sense of 70s styling. The old classic has been modernised with a host of new styles and autumn worthy shades. The comeback brought with it a host of new fringing styles to give suede a new lease of life.

Autumn/Winter styling wouldn't be complete without the inclusion of fur. This reliable warmer has come back this year in the traditional black and white variations but if you want to step up your fur collection with a little spice we have the style for you.

Long gone are the days where cord was 'unacceptable' as a fashionable item. This season has welcomed back the long lost texture with open arms to bring it back to the forefront of must have textures. A simple cord pinafore or cord flares are the must have staple for the season ahead.

Leathers cheaper sister comes out to play this AW again to remain the perfect go to item when the weather turns. A PU leather jacket is the essential wardrobe staple for all  fashion tastes. Why not add a little season flare by buying adding a tassel to the traditional style or keep it simple with the classic biker look.

Shop from a palette of deep reds, burnt oranges and charcoal greys in our new Texture trend category.  Add a little texture clash to your AW styling with a collection of new denim, cord and chiffon styles. The texture trend at Glamorous is the perfect transition to welcome Autumn into your wardrobe.
