    September 25, 2015

This September marks the first day of Autumn but it is not the only big date in the calendar this month. That's right, the Students are back. A mixed bag of freshers, returners and repeaters (it happens to the best of us!), it's time to forget about Summer and start thinking about the semester ahead.

The initial adjustment back into 'reality' after Summer is always a difficult one, Student life does obviously come with many a perk but gone are the days of home cooking and that free laundrette called mum. It is during this time students need to take advantage of the discounts around to welcome them into the new term.

For the lucky students among us Student discount becomes their saving grace throughout the year. It is the 3 (or maybe 4) year pass at getting full price items cheaper than everyone else. The key is to look out for the student events with increased discount. A prime example to properly go to town on buying a whole new wardrobe.

With such shopping freedom, the student years are the perfect time to experiment with your style. Step away from the norm 'go to' buys and push your comfort zone that little bit further. Need a little inspiration to get you started? Our Glamorous bloggers definitely know a thing or two about what's hot this season.

The Glamorous AW15 collection has a variety of student friendly styles to go from the lecture hall to the freshers ball while staying on top of all the latest trends.  Shop from a variety of Autumn worthy colours in suede, cord and chiffon. With the on site student discount there is no excuse to not stay stylish this term!

Don't forget, Students get 25% off all full price items until 27th Sept. Sign up now with unidays so start saving!

  • Modern Vintage Trend

    September 18, 2015

The forever favourite Vintage trend is taking a revamp this season by embarking on a little modern twist. This new hybrid trend combines the classic prints of the past with the new modern shapes of the season.

Whether you are a fan of rooting through a thrift shop to find a hidden gem or looking for a new print or texture to take you into the Autumn/Winter months then the Modern Vintage trend will suit your style.

Teaming old with new can create a dynamic new collection to entice the previous non vintage fan. A mixture of vintage inspired prints, 60s style suede and washed out denim. The modern influence adds an essence of new to these previous classic styles.

The key players from this trend are a variety of bold prints, classic textures and everyday show-stoppers. Here are the Glamorous teams top picks:

When Winter starts approaching its inevitable that the fur collections will start appearing in all high street stores. A staple piece when the temperature changes. We love adding a little personality to the classic fur coat with our mixed faux fur cropped jacket. The bold colours compliment the Autumn colour palette perfectly.

Long sleeve printed maxi's may seem like a thing of the past but with the revamped tile print this simple style will become a wardrobe must have. With the clinched in waist and high neck style, our vintage print maxi is an office favourite. The perfect style for a casual day look with flat boots and a leather jacket. Add a fedora for a bohemian twist.

Autumn/Winter welcomes back the variety of textures to flood back into the fashion world. From overlapping the Summer favourite Suede, the return of denim and now the revamp of cord, our AW15 wardrobes shouldn't by shy of a texture clash. Button down styles have had a comeback this season in both skirt and dress varieties. Our tan cord pinafore dress is a big web favourite, also available in black this simple style has just the right amount of structure to hang nicely over a thin knit or on its own.

Print is welcomed every season in all varieties and the modern vintage trend is no stranger. By taking inspiration from the 60's and 70's, the AW collection is a diverse collection of stand out styles with a modern twist. Our blue triangle print crop jumper is a geometric dream. This bold style is the perfect knitwear update with a little edge.

  • How to dress for 'Swinter'!

    September 4, 2015

With Autumn fast approaching we begin to fall into the limbo period of what to wear. The ever changing UK weather plays a big part in this decision (Wintery winds one week to Indian Summer the next..). Here marks the start of Swinter, a mixture of lingering Summer styles teamed with brand new Winter wonders to create a mid season look.

Understandably this can be quite a daunting task so during this difficult time we want to offer you a little helping hand to guide you through the tricky Swinter styling.

    The Cape

A returning favourite from last year is the knitted cape. The perfect throw on (literally) when the weather changes or as a statement piece for a casual look. The cape adds the right amount of layering for the Swinter period as it can be styled both draped or wrap around.

     Printed Coat

It does seem a little soon to start thinking about what Winter coat you want to buy but it doesn't have to only be associated with the cold days of December. A winter coat can become your 'go to right now' if styled right. A longline printed coat is the perfect multi-seasonal item. Still in the Summer mode? Wear with a simple cami dress and sandals or for a more wintery look wear with a high neck knitted dress and boots.

     Statement Midi

Mini, midi or maxi, skirts are on trend all year round. Picking the right style for the season is where it gets tricky. Coming into Autumn the bright variations seem a little less appropriate as the colour palette begins to change.

A statement midi is a sophisticated approach to the Swinter styling. The muted floral midi skirt offers the right amount of colour/print to still fit the Summer brief, yet will be an AW favourite when the weather changes.

     Textures Mix Up

The Autumn/Winter months are a prime time to experiment with textures. This seasons favourite suede will be overlapping from SS to AW making it a Swinter must. We all know when Winter hits a woolly jumper (or 10) will be taking over our style.

Get ahead of the game and buy the perfect knit now to help you through the chilly end of Summer days. We love a simple texture clash look by teaming knit with suede for a minimal look.

     Lace It Up

Continuing the love of suede, another big player carrying over from SS15 is the lace up suede dress. The majority of the Summer styles were made in autumnal worthy colours so the adjustment to Swinter shouldn't be too difficult.

A big AW15 must have is the high neck sleeveless knit, the perfect collaboration for your favourite lace up dress.
