    June 30, 2015

We're sure you're all familiar with the sense of satisfaction felt at nabbing a bargain. If it happens to be something on trend and a great saving it makes the deal that little bit sweeter. Lucky shoppers are being spoilt for choice with endless amounts of summer sales hitting the stores, making it even simpler to keep right on trend for fantastic value.

Here at Glamorous we're offering some of our best and newest items on sale, all for your benefit. The pre-conception that sale shopping involves never ending queues and fights to the death over stilettos are over. With online outlets increasing in popularity, your wait to shop the sales no longer includes an obligatory coffee run. Take the luxury of shopping from your bedroom, no make up needed. We've made things easy and listed our top picks for our sale items available, all according to occasion of course.

    Garden Party

garden party Bring your inner bohemian goddess to the party and work maxi skirts with crop tops. Style out a bold print with a staple colour on top. Shoe-wise you can go wrong with sandals, not only comfortable, they are in keeping with the trend to give an overall effortless finish.

    Summer BBQ

Barbecues are made for casual and comfy clothing. We recommend dungarees with a simple crop and sandals to get that just-threw-this-on feel. If the sun happens to shine, sunglasses are a must, go for round, oversized styles to introduce retro vibes. Layer up for an evening do with a cosy knit or jacket.

    Beach Babe

Whether you're lucky and live beach-side or are planning a weekend away, cover ups are key to nailing a beach ready look. Team a bikini with a halter maxi dress and open toed flats and evoke ultimate beach babe cool.

    Day at the Park

On a shoestring budget? Find your local park for summer scenery and (usually free) activity. Shorts are a must if your day involves a lot of walking.  Throw over a crop, layered with crochet vest to keep things interesting. Flat, comfortable shoes are advisable so find your favourite vans and wear for exploding or strolling, whichever is your style.

  • Festival Inspiration

    June 26, 2015

With this weekend seeing the daddy of all festivals returning for another year we know we'll all fall victim to major style envy of the regular celeb and blogger crowd's key looks.Festival has become a season in it's own right, making it ever crucial to bring your A-game when hitting the fields.

In an environment where anything goes, your fashion can follow suit; never was there a better opportunity to try that bold print and take a risk. The end result of this season's festival fashion is grown from seeds of seventies retro, far east fabrics and native prints,  all encompassed to produce a fun and forward end result. For all you festi-goers and wishful thinkers, we've put together a little piece on our favourite looks and what items we're crushing on this season. Heading to a festival? See our competition for your chance to win the ultimate festival survival kit and £500 to spend on our website to make sure you stay stylish wherever your music tastes take you.

A basic piece remains basic without the right accompaniments. Festivals are perfect for going all out with accessories, think headbands, intricate necklaces and plenty of attitude. Loose bangles are great for keeping things interesting and keep things effortless. Take note from bloggers and link vintage pieces into your look, attention to detail is crucial when it comes to really nailing a trend. Branch out from your usually styling options and try working body art into your style. Henna is great for a temporary option to add detail, if you want something to wash off easier, opt for for face paint and body glitter to get into the festi-spirit.

Festival hair is all about making the best of what you have and doing it right (especially in a shower-free environment). Braids are perfect for achieving that effortless just-rolled-out-of-tent cool and are easy to master. Take things up a notch and try weaving fabrics and feathers into your hair for bohemian, hippy chick appeal. Headbands will always be a festival staple for masking unwashed hair. If you don't have luxury camping, work the bed head look and use dry shampoo and hair spray to keep volume and making styling as simple as possible. Forget curling and straightening, make the most of your natural assets, it all ties in with the festival vibe and leaves more time to hit the tents and bars.

Tricky negotiate, your shoe selection boils down to 2 factors: climate and weather. Those platform wedges that make your legless endless in shorts? Not a good idea unless your venue of choice happens to be fully concreted. The key is to keep it simple. Throw on your much loved Docs or trainers and dress them up with the right accessories and outfit. If the sun decides to show, flat sandals are an easy option and go with most outfits. If you love British heritage influence you can't go wrong with Hunter wellies.

Shorts are a no brainer if you're looking for staples to wear, try changing your look up with a fringed jacket an layered tops to keep things from looking too basic. Crochet and lace are your besties when it comes to mixing textures, try layering a long sheer top over a crop to show off your tan whilst keeping things classy (no one needs to see your bum cheeks out in full force on that note). Pair your pieces with sleeveless jackets, a must have trend this season. Take things away from tailoring and choose jackets with rough edges tasselled hems.  The most vital rule is stay true to your style, if your a grunge girl at heart, work your version of the trends, trying something unfamiliar will only leave you looking uncomfortable.

  • The Start of Summer

    June 15, 2015

With the recent uplift in the weather Summer finally looks like it has arrived. With the official start of the season approaching we have a look at what makes Summer the most loved season of the year.

The 21st June is not only the official start of Summer but also happens to be the longest day of the year. A coincidence? We don't think so. This ironic date is a day to make the most of the bright evenings. Stay that extra bit longer in the park soaking up the rays or order than extra drink in the beer garden.

By now you should be in the swing of things in terms of Summer styling but if not here is a few pointers..

    Crochet Crazy

Long gone are the days crochet was associated with your nan's sofa cover, crochet has got cool. The delicate detailing has mixed up the traditional summer styling, with elements of it featuring on all attributes from bikini's to trousers.

The once forgotten single needle style of knit has this season become the must have piece for Summer festival period. Team a simple crochet waistcoat with your trusty denim shorts for casual yet chic style.

    Fringe Benefits

Tassel takeover is official, the suede favourite has taken over the high street this Summer giving everyone a little Folk edge to their regular styling. From fringe focused jackets to add a bohemian twist to your jacket collection to the all round perfect festival shorts with tassel edging.

Since the fringing trend is carrying on into the Autumn we say stock up and give in to the takeover.

    Bardot Babes

The peasant inspired style has returned with a modernised twist this season. Show off those collar bones with this simple yet pretty style. Want to make a statement? Team with an aztec embellished necklace to really make your outfit pop.

The bardot trend this summer is the perfect look if you are still not brave enough to get the legs out on those Sunny days. Simply team a bardot top with a pair of figure hugging jeans and killer heels for a statement night out look.

  • How To Wear: Seventies Revival

    June 5, 2015

    How to do: Seventies Revival

Seventies fever has made a comeback this season and as big advocators of a good paisley print, here at Glamorous we couldn’t be happier. As flares, floral and muted shades work the runway we are already planning the transitions to Autumn/Winter.

What we love about this trend is the versatility to take you from spring to winter with just a few minor changes. Texture is a must, as is a strong shoe game (you can’t go wrong with boots).

On the jacket front forget leather, it’s all about the suede this year. No boho staple wardrobe would be complete without the ultimate fringed effect jacket. Fringing still reigns strong from spring, but try not to get complacent. We recommend trying a new colour to reinvent your take on the trend.Tone your regular hue down a notch while the suns out, before preparing to go darker for winter, we love a good sand shade for styling with pastel tones.

In the season centred on festivals and holidays, you can’t go wrong with a bit of crochet. Mix block colours with busy patterns to balance your palette, we love a knitted dress thrown over a slip for instant festival cool.

Make the look your own with fun make up-up and hair options, try a pastel wash out dye to really shake up you look. If you’re lucky enough to be hitting the fields to see your favourite acts this year making your look your own is a must.; think temporary tattoos and face paint, try it’s all about embracing and enjoying yourself.

Co-ords make a comeback and take a seventies twist, inviting neutral colours with classic prints to evoke a chilled, seasonal look. With more natural shades coming into play, we recommend being bolder in your styling options, try camel browns or black to toughen up an otherwise girly look when choosing you accompanying shoes/bag/jacket combo.

If you’re a jeans kind of girl (who isn’t?) you’ll love our new wave of flares (set to stay here at Glamorous long until A/W). No longer the embarrassing memory your dad tried to erase all evidence of, this seasons flares are anything but cringey.

Go city girl chic with a loose shirt and blazer or take a more laid back approach with an embroidered blouse. Loose sleeves and drawstring ties are not to be ignored with this one.

If you want some Saturday Night Fever Inspo, go all out and opt for a jumpsuit (Flares and wedges a must with this one). Choose your favourite wallpaper inspired pattern paired with loose hair, draping accessories and a ‘who cares’ kind of attitude.

When wearing a jumpsuit a certain level of confidence must be exuded to really carry the look off, we advise keeping both your head and you heels high as you hit the town. Swapping city scapes for beach horizons? Keep the vibe and channel retro beach babe with a simple smock, embroidered detailing is a must have, as is the perfect flat shoe. Invest in a good salt hair spray for instant, effortless beach waves.

With such a strong collection of textures and shapes for this season and the next, mastering the transition is made all the easier. We can’t wait to see what’s next to come, either way we’ll always keep you updated with the latest Glamorous trends to come.
