  • Bank Holiday Looks

    May 21, 2015

The three day weekend is upon us again and we couldn't be happier. Time to make the most of the extra day and ignore the Monday blues, for one week at least. bank holidays are a time to get yourself out of the house and away from the sofa, do stuff you wouldn't usually do on an average weekend. From BBQ's in the park to the beach with all your mates, make sure your outfit is on point this bank holiday weekend.

The first BBQ of the season is always a special occasion. It officially marks the start of Summer, the perfect way to make the most of the summer sun before the colder months creep back in. Weighing up the right BBQ outfit can be tricky dependant on the classic UK summer weather.

The key to the right BBQ outfit is layering. A fan of this Summers long line look? Why not team one of our best selling printed shirts with a khaki duster coat. A classic look to keep warm during the coolness of the evening. If you prefer a simpler approach, take on the nautical trend with one of our favourite striped tops. Team with a timeless leather jacket and jeans or shorts (dependant on the weather of course).

When the sun is out its time to head to the beach, grab those sunglasses and your beach bag full of essentials and get some rays in a well planned, 'I just threw this on' outfit. When it comes to beachwear we like to keep things simple yet stylish. Dawn a classic white crop top with the ever favourite frayed ripped shorts. A timeless look to keep up up to date with the trends without being too daring. Shorts not your thing? A printed shift dress is the perfect throw over when the UK sun doesn't live up to bikini heat.

    Day Drinks

A bank holiday is an excuse to dress up and get together with those friends you haven't seen in a while. Take to the streets in the Summer sun in an outfit fit for a party. Dressing up doesn't have to be an evening thing, show the beer garden locals that sophistication can come at any time of the day.

Embrace the boho trend by adding a little fringing to your look. We love our black tassel cropped jacket, a simple style to add some class to a day drinks look. If fringing isn't part of your SS15 wardrobe go pretty in print. Add a pop of colour to a classic pinstripe skirt or shorts for a twist on a traditional style.

  • Classic Beach Cover Ups

    May 15, 2015

After what seems like an endless winter, summer is finally arriving and with it comes the major wardrobe lust for a new collection to introduce to your closet. Now is the perfect time to book that beach getaway and soak up some sun, and while you’re at it you may as well look amazing. Summer is the time to reintroduce colour to you collection after months of muted tones and neutral palettes. White makes its return to the rails in its masses and mastering how to style this hue can be a task in itself, luckily we’re here to help you master gorgeous summer styling.

One key trend which can be tricky to achieve is layering. Layers didn't just get left in winter when the new season rolled in, combining pieces to clash and co-ordinate is what this trend is all about. Cover ups are key to perfecting your ideal summer look and here at Glamorous you’ll be spoilt for choice. Whether you’re a jacket or kimono kind of girl, opportunities are open to explore patterns and prints with our SS15 range.

The runways have been rife with kimonos this season, showing in Gucci and Celine to name few and putting forward elongated silhouettes, tied in at the waist to give structure. What we love about kimonos is the variety of textures on offer, go Sheer with Lace Overlay or keep traditional with Silky Soft materials, instantly offering to switch a look from day to night.  With Asian culture being explored at the Met Ball this past week; kimonos have never been hotter property and with so many options you really can style this to suit your own preference.

    Sleeveless Jackets

Throw over jackets are the easiest way to nail the layered look, with longer styles being the pick of the pack this season. Attention to detail is key with this trend, choosing your ideal pattern is make or break when it comes to co-ordinating or clashing successfully. Fringing and tassels stay true to form when it comes to this trend, you can't go wrong a classic Crochect Piece with waist fringing; perfect for going from beach to bar when out on your jollies. If you prefer more coverage, try a Printed Tassled Version for size, easy to match with an all black or white palette.

    Oversized T-shirts

The oversized tee is a classic cover up for the beach, but making this look stylish can be a challenge. In danger of falling into a drab aesthetic, choosing the right tee isn’t always as easy as appears.  We advise going for a sheer option, still able to show a bikini and shorts underneath but providing that much needed security most of us crave when on holiday. Opting for a vibrant colour or print will keep your look form being monotonal, we recommend Royal Blue as a staple colour this summer. If you prefer to make things a little livelier, find a Print to project your personality and step outside the box.

  • The Glamorous guide to Festivals and Fashion

    May 1, 2015

Festival season is right around the corner and we’re already planning our wardrobes to welcome the summer in style. With so much on offer it can be hard to decide which festival is for you, which is why we’ve provided an all you need to know guide with our Top 5 Favourites. Here to help with our overview of the Top 5 Festivals, we can help decide which event, who to see and most importantly, what to wear. Whether rock or house, folk or funk, there’s something for every genre at Glamorous. Be sure to let us know which festivals you'll be attending and what looks you'll be working in the comments below.

    Glastonbury (24th-28th June)

The Headliners: Foo Fighters, Lional Richie, Kanye West

    Price: £170 + fees

Causing quite a stir this year with a controversial headliner (and we don’t mean Lionel), Glastonbury has long established its reputation as the crown jewel of the UK festival scene.  With 5 days of music to accommodate for, getting your look to mesh the perfect balance of comfort versus statement can be tricky business. Always a favourite for festivals, you can’t go wrong with signature Glamorous bohemian chic. Embrace a natural setting with folk prints and floral embroidery. Our cute White and Black Co-Ord Set is easy to style with a bold statement bag or dress down with a neutral print kimono, the scallop hem injects a dose of boho chic without overdoing it, perfect for dipping a toe if your new to the trend. Fringing is a firm favourite on the catwalks this spring so find your own way to work the trend. We love our Tile Print Poncho; easily wearable and versatile for when the weather takes a nasty turn.

    Reading / Leeds (28th-30th August)

The Headliners: Mumford and Sons, Metallica, The Libertines

    Price: £213 + fees

Reading and Leeds are the ones for fans of the Rock and Indie persuasion, always sure to secure crowd pleasing headliners and draw a crowd.  This year seems set to not disappoint with Metallica and The Libertines sure to entice ever loyal followings. More laid back than other events, the music heavily influences the fashion theme at Reading/Leeds, meaning ripped denim is a definite must for this one. With a Glam Groupie aesthetic taking over the runways and Vogue, we advise to evoke your inner rock star with our Leather Look Fringed Jacket. Think Bowie, platforms and plenty of PU. Any alternate look also wouldn’t be complete without our Black Ripped Skinnies, we recommend channelling casual cool and pairing with your favourite band tee for an effortless approach. Love to layer? Try our Black & Copper Printed Jacket, ideal to throw over a simple look and add texture.

    V Festival (22nd & 23rd August)

    The Headliners: Kasabian, Calvin Harris

Price: £165 + fees (more for camping)

A mixture of mainstream favourites, V know how to fill a line up. This is the one to glamp it up at with a variety of camping options. In the style stakes you can’t go wrong with a cute floral dress. Our sleeveless shifts come in a range of prints to match your taste and are easy to pair with sandals and a neutral bag for a simplistic look. We love our Cobalt Blue Floral version, letting the print do the talking with a bold print, while the fail safe shape suits provides a simple style to accommodate all body shapes. Crochet is the trend of the season bringing knitwear to SS15 and we adore our White Distressed Vest offering, perfect for pairing with ripped shorts and sandals for your go to festival staple. If you’re just looking to add a dash of the trend, our Cream Crotchet Jacket acts as an accessory to instantly update any outfit, proving the perfect laid-back festival accompaniment piece. We envision draped jewellery, simple shoes and a fringed bag to  create a dream look worthy of any fashion blogger.

    Parklife (6th & 7th June)

    The Headliners: Rudimental, Disclosure

    Price: £89.50 + fees

With camping not a necessity, you can go all out at this one. A mix of DJs and Live acts, Parklife caters to the majority market and with an ever growing number of attendees shows no signs of slowing.  Offering two of the top current DJ’s Rudimental and Disclosure, you’ll want to continue the party in Manchester City Centre long past closing time. We advise to buck the trend for hot pants and headbands and try something different this year. With Manchester’s notoriously unreliable weather, we suggest layering up and preparing for rain. Sensible meets statement in our Blue Floral Rain Mac, easy to throw over any outfit and stay dry when the heavens open and still cute enough to style with any look to see you through.  On a similar note, our gorgeous new collection of Knitted Jumpers are ideal for throwing over ripped shorts and wellies to stay wrapped up once the sun goes down, coming in a range of pastel and brights, making it all the easier to find your favourite. Looking for an alternative to hotpants? Find a new best friend in our adorable selection of Dungarees, open to interpretation you can add stripey tee and boots a la Chung or go girly with lace crop top and sandals, giving endless options for a new look every wear.

    Bestival (10th-13th September)

The Headliners: The Chemical Brothers, Underworld, Duran Duran

    Price: £195 (Cheaper for Students)

Last of the season, Bestival is the perfect way to end your summer. Catering to nostalgia seekers and mainstream music fans alike, there’s something for everyone here. With such a mix of music genres, it’s only natural styles follow suit with the opportunity for revellers to have their own take on the yearly changing fancy dress theme. This years’ theme is dubbed ‘Summer of Love’, open to interpretation but in a nutshell meaning; music, freedom, peace and love. Think sixties patterns and seventies silhouettes; peace signs and retro denim revivals all encompassed to suit a summer scenario. A fail safe winner in the dress up stakes is our Red & Purple Paisley Top; bringing sixties vibes and colour clashing prints, softened by airy shapes and layering. Hippy chicks will love our Shoulderless Peasant Blouse, flattering for all shapes as well as being versatile to style your own way. Romantic meets retro in our Black Embroidered Cami Dress, simple to edge up with a pair of wellies or boots and throw over a suede jacket to ensure mud need not ruin your look.
