    London Fashion Week Style

When it comes to fashion week season the main one we look forward to is London. We love to see what must have designs are visible on our doorstep, but it is not all about the catwalk shows.

Some of our lucky featured bloggers where at the event demonstrating street style has as much of an impact than the fashion shows.18.09.14 pt 1

Charlotte Summers has an overall casual chic approach to her styling. Mixing the wardrobe staple black denim jeans with a bold printed jumper creates an easy statement look.

We also love her simple slogan jumper with the versatile grey scuba skirt.  A perfect transitional outfit for these in between months. london2

Victoria Copeland showed us a new approach to layering with the styling of our scuba crop jumper. Teaming with a crisp white shirt and casual mini skirt, this look is sophisticated layering down to a T. The colour palette used in this styling compliments the season, why not add a splash of colour with a burgundy coat.london6

Of course as well as the street style we had to have a look at what is set to be the big trends of Spring Summer15. The collections took 1 of 2 styles. Bold and bright with vibrant graphics and exaggerated florals or simplistic nudes, with intricate detailing of lace and embellishment.

Sports Luxe is still present from the current AW14 trend with key colours appearing to be ruby reds and cobalt blues.

Why wait until Spring Summer 15 to shop the trends? We have had a look at the transitional pieces to take your wardrobe from AW to SS. Shop London Fashion Week Style.

  • New York Fashion Week

    September 12, 2014

It is one of the most important months in the fashion industry, with designers monitoring the success of their latest Autumn Winter collection,  'the September issue' publications hitting the newsagents shelves and most importantly, the start of Fashion Week.

Kicking off in New York last week we knew it was going to be a week of celebrity front rows, show-stopping designs and collections we would love to be wearing right now. Here at Glamorous we kept our eye on what was going on throughout the week, picking some of our favourite looks and some that we feel pushed the boundaries too far.

What have the designers branded to be hot next Spring Summer? We have had a look at what New York Fashion Week had to offer.

    Diane Von Furstenberg

    diane set

The Diane Von Furstenberg collection is a mixture of feminine elegance with country styling. The inclusion of the AW14 check print is a nice contrast against the SS15 colour palette. Loose pleats and high necks play a key part in this new collection. Kendal Jenner or now known as just Kendal was the main talking point of the Furstenberg show.

    Oscar De La Renta

    oscar set

The Oscar De La Renta Show proved that pastels are definitely set to return next SS15. With pretty pink shades in relaxed hem dresses and complimentary check prints.  Subtle print clashes created a unique look that everyone could adopt to fit their own taste. Like the Furstenberg Collection, De La Renta has included the block check print in his designs, making it apparent that checks will continue to dominant the high street from now until SS15.

    Marc by Marc Jacobs

We knew the Marc by Marc Jacobs collection would be a talking point and we weren't wrong, the futuristic styling is definitely an acquired taste. Bold statement pieces to set apart his collection from the more 'ready to wear' designs from his fellow designers. His hybrid designs combine sheer plastic materials with bold prints and graphics, a collection only a few brave fashionista's would embrace.

     Donna Karan

    donna karan set

On first glance the Donna Karan SS15 collection is quite Autumn Winter, a sophisticated set of styles with a touch of 50s feel with the flared midi skirt styles present in a lot of the collections dresses.

    Vera Wang

    vera set

Vera Wang is known for simple sophistication styling and the SS15 collection is no different, with black being the dominant colour this collection screams elegance. A very wearable collection that is definitely set to be big next year.

    Victoria Beckham

We are always intrigued with what style Victoria Beckham with adopt. This collection has stepped away from her traditional tailored style for a more fun approach. Dainty floral detailing and wide striped designs to step away from her usual classic styling, either way we love it!

With New York Fashion Week now over and London Fashion Week just kicking off we are keen to see what London has to offer in terms of trends for SS15.

  • Trend: Printed Perfection

    September 5, 2014

    printed perfection

From season to season, print always plays a dominant feature in the making of the trends and Autumn/Winter 14 is no exception. The catwalks are bombarded with a variety of prints styles, from delicate detailing to bold stand out styles.

A variation of prints is definitely the way to upgrade your wardrobe next season.

Here at Glamorous we never shy away from a print, especially when it comes to our dress collection. AW isn't all about jeans and jumpers, add a feminine touch to your styling, from a Moroccan print smock dress to a purple paisley skater dress.

We will have a print to suit your taste. Team with chunky patent boots and a leather jacket to embrace the classic rock chick look. The ultimate printed perfection!

    Print-new in

It's not only our dresses that embrace the many prints of AW, our new in section has a vast array of catwalk worthy prints to carry you through the next season.

Our burgundy and cream floral playsuit is fast becoming a best-seller and no wonder, the pretty floral print is the perfect AW look, team with tights and boots for a day look or black strappy heels for night.

From intricate tile detailing to the classic floral print, our AW collection is an impressive mix of print variation to move away from the plain more basic styles. Embrace the print this Autumn Winter and be printed perfection!

  • Trends to look out for in Autumn/Winter 2014

    September 1, 2014

As we’re reaching the end of summer (though we’re sure it’s only just arrived), the colder weather is creeping up on us so it’s time to fill our wardrobes with all things autumnal. We always like to look our best here at Glamorous and to do that we ensure that we keep up to date with all of the latest trends. So, we’ve done our research on the exciting upcoming autumn winter must-haves for 2014 so you can be sure that you’re more style icon than fashion faux pas this season.

So what should you look out for this season?

Prints – prints are set to be big – especially bohemian colours and patterns, so release your inner boho chic with paisley and tapestry.

Tribal – Aztec patterns and plenty of fringe and tassel items will be around so don’t be afraid to be adventurous with this trend and expect a lot of embroidery and jewellery.

Check – the check trend has had a revamp and is now more stylish than ever. Be prepared to see plenty of squares and panels this autumn/winter.

Prints have been around for what seems like forever and they are always changing. Each season new prints are introduced or old prints make a comeback but what we love most about prints is that they’re so fun to wear. You can mix and match them, wear a subtle print if you want to look professional and understated or a bright and bold print if you want to be noticed. Tapestry and paisley are big this year – the catwalks are full of surprises aren’t they? Sixties prints will be making a comeback too with bright and neutral colours and bold prints – the catwalks also like the knee high boots with mini-skirts or dresses look - so watch out for fashionistas sporting those.

     How to style this trend:

Green and Red Tapestry Print Mini SkirtJL4553GREENREDTAPESTRY-F

Mini-skirts are timeless; they always look great and they come in a variety of styles, prints, textures and colours. This A-line mini-skirt has a green and red tapestry print with blues, pinks and creams throughout. It looks vintage and has elements of 60s fashion which is also on trend this season. Pair this skirt with a matching top (co-ordinates were so popular in the summer that they’ve overlapped into the autumn/winter season). Knee high boots would also look great with this skirt – basically, it’s perfect for all weathers.

Orange Swirl and Floral Print Swing Top

This is the perfect top for the autumn, isn’t it? It includes all of the key colours, deep purples, oranges, greens and browns and has got paisley print down to a tee. It’s a crop top so it can be worn with anything high-waisted (check out our black fringe shorts later) but because it’s sleeveless it’s the perfect item to layer up too. Gold jewellery would complement this top well if you want to accessorise.

The tribal trend was popular in spring and summer with designers such as Alexander McQueen and Givenchy displaying tribal themes on their catwalks. It looks like it is set to overlap into the new season, which we’re happy with as we can’t get enough of the patterns, colours and tassels! Fringing has made its way back from the 20s and has been given an edge; whereas Aztec patterns are still popular and look great in monochrome or colours. Then of course there are tassels which have the ability to make any outfit look on-trend this season. Nature inspired clothing is set to make an appearance too with both Dolce and Gabbana and Valentino featuring it in their collections. Tribal fashion can be worn in a variety of ways so experiment and find out whether the generic tribal, hippy look or bohemian look is for you– or maybe you love and mix all three!

    How to style this trend:

    Burgundy Tribal Draped Kimono

Layered knits are predicted to be huge this autumn and winter and this Burgundy Tribal Draped Kimono is the perfect addition to your layered outfit. Try pairing it with shorts and boots – it’s long so it will still keep you warm – or create a casual look by layering it over the top of a plain top and pairing it with jeans. This kimono has tassels too which makes it this season’s ultimate piece of outerwear.

    Black Fringe Shorts

We told you that fringe was going to be hot! These black fringe shorts are perfect for a night out – they’re high-waisted so are flattering and although they’re short the fringe detail adds length so you won’t end up showing too much skin. Pair these with a cute crop top – patterned would look cool and edgy whereas a plain one would look classic. These shorts are so versatile you can afford to experiment with outfits.

Black and White Geo Aztec Brocade T-Shirt

Aztec has been in the shops for a while now and doesn't show signs of slowing down any time soon. This little top can be worn with trousers,

skirts or shorts – the use of black and white means that it can be worn with most colours and the Aztec pattern keeps it on trend. This T-shirt is versatile and is suitable for parties, casual wear and even work wear.

Check has had a makeover, it’s not just associated with lumberjacks now and, for AW14, it’s everywhere – dresses, skirts, shorts, tops, bags… the list goes on . There are wide grid prints, square checks, plaid patterns, graphic prints and even prints on check prints! The thing that we love about check is that it’s so versatile – you can wear it in the day to work but you can then carry it through to the evening, it can look smart, casual or dressy. Don’t be afraid to get creative with check this season, it’s open to interpretation and you have the freedom to change and mix it up when you want to.

    How to style this trend:

Black and White Grid Pencil Skirt

This pencil skirt might look eye catching and bold but it works really well for both work and a night on the town. Pair it with a black shirt and blazer for work and a brightly coloured top for a party –you can even pair it with a different type of check. Who says you had to match?

Blue shift dress with check and floral print

As you can see, this dress has got three trends in one. It’s got a coloured check print with floral print over the top and monochrome sleeves and neckline but doesn't it work well? This should hopefully give you some inspiration on how you can style check in different ways – you don’t have to stick to the rules. Pair this dress with some chunky heels to show off your pins.

Of course coats will be an important part of our wardrobe this season – after all, even when we’re cold we still need to look good, don’t we? This year coats are all about making a statement and there are plenty to choose from. Masculine coats will be on trend this season alongside tailored suits and clothing.

    How to style this trend:

    Navy Long Lightweight Duster Coat

If you kept up to date with the fashion shows this year then you will know that statement coats are going to be massive this season (just ask Marc Jacobs – he’s a fan). Every girl needs a coat that they love and that makes them feel like a princess. This long lightweight duster coat in navy is perfect –it’s comfortable and plain but it makes a statement. It will look sleek over a dress for a night on the town but is also smart enough for work.

    Grey Peplum Coat

This peplum coat is perfect for the winter and when paired with cream or black knitwear, looks stylish and classic. Thanks to its peplum style it’s flattering and great for all body shapes.

Black and White Striped Faux Fur Coat

Every girl needs a fur coat in their wardrobe – it’s an item that can add instant glamour and style to any outfit. This black and white fur coat is the perfect winter item, it’s big and it’s bold and that’s really what fur coats are all about. Wear with skinny jeans or over your LBD to really show it off.
